Sausage Biscuits and Gravy

Sausage Biscuits and Gravy

Sausage Gravy and Buttermilk Biscuits served with lemon, blueberry mimosas are meant for slow Sunday mornings with family and friends. During the holidays, I like to use sage sausage to get me in the spirit.

Brown up 1 pound of your favorite breakfast sausage then add 1 tbsp of butter or crisco/oil. To that, add 1/3 cup AP flour and saute for a few minutes to cook out the flour taste. Add in 4 cups of milk and bring to a simmer then add your seasonings. It will thicken up as it bubbles away and will thicken even more when you remove it from the heat.

  • 1 pound sausage (I used jimmy Dean)

  • 1 tbsp butter/oil/crisco

  • 4 cups milk

  • 1 tsp salt/garlic powder

  • 1.5 tsp pepper (most people do white pepper but I like to see it)

  • 1 tsp Tony Chachere’s for some kick (optional)
